The “Garden Suburb” of Boston

Welcome to Roslindale

Roslindale is a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, and is bordered by Mattapan, Hyde Park, West Roxbury, and Jamaica Plain. A part of Boston, Roslindale has full advantage of the excellent public transport system, making everything just one stop away. Convenience is a common theme in the suburbs of Boston.

Originally a part of Roxbury, Roslindale seceded in 1851 along with the other communities listed above. The name “Roslindale” came from a region in Scotland near Edinburgh and was suggested by a well-traveled community member in the 1860s. Roslindale has since grown as a streetcar suburb, meaning its growth came from its location along popular transit lines.

Many of the homes in Roslindale are built in contemporary and Colonial styles. The average price for a property in this area is $649,000, while rent sits around $2,350. Homes range from single-family to multi-family properties.
